About Val d’Isère

Val d’Isère is one of Europe’s largest and most famous ski resorts.
Part of the Espace Killy ski area, it is linked to Tignes and offers guaranteed brilliant snow conditions every winter. Skiers and snowboarders have access to over 300 km of pistes, split fairly equally between Val d'Isère and Tignes. The town is known for its great shopping and Apres Ski - it's also very picturesque, benefitting from snowy roads and paths for the majority of the winter.

What is the skiing like in Val d’Isère for beginners?

Val d’Isère is perfect for beginners with two nursery slope areas, one in the centre (right by all the shops/restaurants/bars) and one in La Daille at the bottom of the pistes. Val d'Isère has also recently invested heavily in improving the Solaise ski area, providing excellent facilities for beginners and reducing queue wait times with new high speed ski lifts.

What is the skiing like in Val d’Isère for intermediate?

Val d’Isère has numerous blue pistes spread evenly across the Solaise and Bellevarde sides of the mountain, which offer incredible panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers. Not to be missed, La Folie Douce, one of Val d’Isére’s most popular après ski spots, is easily accessible with green or blue runs, although we do recommend taking the gondola down afterwards!

What is the skiing like in Val d’Isère for experts?

Val d’Isère is famous for attracting expert skiers who wish to experience the excellent off-piste terrain and challenge themselves on the renowned ‘La Face’ downhill piste - one of Europe’s longest and steepest pistes. Val d’Isère has several ‘naturide’ runs which are patrolled but unpisted black runs, a great way to safely improve your skills before adventuring further afield.
